Biography
I was born and raised (mostly) in southeast Missouri. I’m the youngest kid of a rural SBC pastor and a music teacher. I have a B.A. in Philosophy from Southeast Missouri State University, and an M.A. and a Th.M. from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, both in Old Testament. I also hold an M.A. and Ph.D. from The Catholic University of America, both in Semitic Languages and Literatures. I focused primarily on medieval, Middle Eastern Christians who wrote in Classical Arabic and Syriac.

My wife, Alana, and I married in 2008. She is God's gift to me and the best of all possible wives. We have three super funny, super smart kids: Olivia, John Mark, and Ellie. We also have a dog, Shadow, who is a great pet but a terrible dog. He doesn't bark or play fetch. It happens...
Since 2015, I’ve served our church family at Greenridge Baptist Church in Boyds, MD as one of our pastors. I lead worship most Sundays, teach Bible studies often, preach about monthly, and lead a home group.
My heart is that God’s people would know his Word well and apply it. I hope that God would use what I do to bless the church.
